Business Profile

Treatments Routine Dental Care

At Ward and Allison, although we have a great deal of experience with restorative treatments, we strongly believe in a preventive approach towards dentistry. Regular dental checkups and hygienist appointments will ensure that your long term oral health is maintained and any potential issues are revealed early enough so that only minimal intervention will be necessary. Regular dental examinations and hygiene appointments give dental professionals an opportunity to review not only your teeth and gums, but also your general overall health and the condition of the soft tissues in and around your mouth.

Hygiene Services

Our dental hygienists are an important part of the team at Ward and Allison and work together with your dentist to ensure your care is tailored to your needs. They are fully trained to help you achieve and maintain healthy teeth and gums through professional cleaning and plaque removal to prevent any future problems arising. Regular hygiene visits combined with caring properly for your teeth and gums at home will help you maintain the best of oral health.

Tooth Coloured Fillings

Wherever possible the dentists and therapists at Ward and Allison try to avoid the use of silver (amalgam) fillings. Instead, where appropriate, we offer natural tooth coloured or white fillings that use the latest bonding technology in order to preserve more of your natural tooth. For more information please ask any member of your dental team.

Periodontics

Our mouths are naturally always full of bacteria. These bacteria constantly form a sticky, colourless 'plaque' on teeth that causes the enamel to decay, and without daily brushing and flossing plaque can harden and form tartar that brushing alone cannot remove. Only professional cleaning by a dentist or dental hygienist can remove tartar. The longer plaque and tartar remain on teeth, the more harmful they become, eventually leading to inflammation of the gums known as gingivitis where the gums become red, swollen and can bleed easily. Gingivitis is a mild form of gum disease that can usually be reversed with daily brushing and flossing, and regular cleaning by a dentist or dental hygienist.
